Our Black Lychee Tea is 100% Organic and is grown in the Fujian Provence, China. Also known as Lichee, Laichi, Litchi. Our Black Lychee Tea has been naturally scented with Lychee peels. The best water temperature for brewing our Black Lychee tea is between 95 –100 degrees Celsius. This will produce a wonderfully dark reddish brew with a fragrant, fruity aroma and a sweet aftertaste. Use 1 flat teaspoon of leaves for every 200 ml and depending on personal taste the tea can be steeped for up to 5 minutes however we find 1 – 2 minutes at 95 degrees is best. Our tea is the highest grade and can be steeped multiple times. Enjoy black or white. Black Lychee Tea makes a refreshing iced tea in the summer months. This harvest is best before May 2020 however black tea does retain its flavour for several years.
Black tea is harvested from the Camellia Sinensis plant which is native to eastern Asia. All tea comes from the one plant however it is the processing that creates beneficial differences in styles. Black tea is the most oxidized and has a slightly stronger flavour than our Oolong or Silver Needle Tea. ‘Lichee’ or ‘King of Fruits’ is a fairly rare and highly prized sub tropical fruit grown in the South of China. Lychee fruit is high in Vitamin C and B-Complex vitamins such as thiamine, niacin and folates. Potassium protects against heart disease and Copper is needed for red blood cell growth.
